The Beautiful White Kasna Fields of Bali
Edelweiss Park
Bali Edelweiss Park is a beautiful flower garden located on the slopes of Mount Agung in Temukus Village, Karangasem, East Bali. The park is known for its kasna flowers, a unique Balinese plant with small white flowers that resemble edelweiss. The place gained popularity after a hiker visited the beautiful field of white flowers and shared photos on social media. As more people became interested in the area, Bali Edelweiss Park started attracting many visitors. Today, it is a popular destination for people who want to enjoy the highland scenery.
Taman Edelweis is located in Temukus Village, Besakih of Karangasem Regency. The garden sits in the foothills of Mount Agung and is only a short drive from Besakih Temple, so visitors can easily visit both places in one trip. From Ubud, it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes by car,
The kasna flower is the main attraction at Edelweis Park and is known for its small white blooms that resemble edelweiss. The flower is often associated with eternal beauty because it stays fresh for a long time, and locals also use it in religious ceremonies, especially during the Galungan celebration. Besides the kasna flowers, the park also has bright yellow marigolds, locally known as gemitir, which create a beautiful contrast with the white flower fields and make the scenery even more colorful.
Edelweiss Park provides several facilities to make visitors feel comfortable during their visit. The park has a large parking area, clean toilets, and trash bins to help keep it tidy. Visitors can also find food stalls and shops selling ornamental plants, along with various photo spots. For those who want to stay longer and enjoy nature, the park also provides a camping area.
One of the best times to visit Edelweis Park is early in the morning, just after sunrise; the light is softer, and the garden is still quiet before more tourists arrive. If you prefer a different vibe, late afternoon is also a good choice because you can enjoy the sunset and the beautiful view of Mount Agung. Both times offer a peaceful experience and are perfect for walking around or simply enjoying the scenery.
For the best chance of seeing the flowers in bloom, we recommend visiting during the dry season, from around April to October, when the weather is generally clearer. During the wet season, especially from November to March, the paths can become slippery after rain, so visitors should be more careful.
Bring a camera or make sure your phone is fully charged because there are plenty of nice spots to take pictures. Comfortable shoes are also a good idea since some parts of the garden have uneven ground. It is best to bring some cash, as the ticket counter and food stalls may not accept card payments. Allow 1.5 to 2 hours to explore the garden without rushing, and if you plan to camp, bring warm clothes because the mountain air can get quite cold at night.
Several interesting places are also nearby. One of them is Besakih Temple, Bali’s largest and holiest temple complex. Many visitors choose to visit both places in the same day because they're so close. From the temple, you can also enjoy beautiful views of Mount Agung while learning more about Balinese Hindu culture. If you want something more adventurous, you can trek Mount Agung to the summit and enjoy the sunrise from the top.
